The College of St. Rose (D2 NY) Adds Women's Lacrosse

ALBANY, N.Y.–Kaitlin Gaghan has been named the first women's lacrosse head coach at The College of Saint Rose. Gaghan will start immediately preparing the Golden Knights for their debut season in the spring of 2020.


 "I am excited to announce the addition of women's lacrosse to our sport sponsorship at Saint Rose as well as introducing our head coach, Kaitlin Gaghan," said Cathy Haker, Director of Athletics and Recreation. "Kaitlin has invaluable experience as a successful NCAA Division II student-athlete who knows what it takes to be competitive in women's lacrosse in the Northeast and nationally. Her extensive coaching experience at many levels of play, combined with her enthusiasm and love of the sport, should be great assets as she recruits the inaugural women's lacrosse class to Saint Rose."

Lewis University (D2 IL) Adds Men's Lacrosse

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University Director of Athletics Dr. John Planek announced on Thursday (August 9) that Joe Perruzzi has been hired as the first men's lacrosse coach in Flyer history.


 "Our intercollegiate athletic program will welcome our 23rd sport offering with the addition of men's lacrosse starting competition in the 2019-2020 season," Planek said. "I am glad to announce that Joe Perruzzi will be our inaugural head coach. His successful experience at the Division II level along with his energy level will serve us well as we begin to establish our lacrosse program at Lewis University."

 Lewis Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Planning Ray Kennelly was equally as excited about the new Flyer sport addition. "The addition of men's lacrosse, will enhance student life on campus as well as provide additional opportunities for intercollegiate athletic competition," Kennelly said. "This will also help spread the Lewis name to new markets."

Caldwell University (D2 NJ) Adds Men's Lacrosse

CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University Athletics has announced the addition of men's lacrosse as an intercollegiate sport for the 2019-20 academic year, increasing its varsity sports opportunities to 16. The Cougars will compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, which sponsored men's lacrosse as a conference sport this past spring.


 "We are extremely excited to add men's lacrosse to our sport sponsorship at Caldwell University," said Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Mark A. Corino. "We are looking forward to joining our fellow CACC schools as the league sponsored the first men's lacrosse championship this past spring. With the expansion to our 16th varsity program and seventh male sport, the athletics department is excited and enthusiastic about playing a major role in the continued growth of our institution."

 Caldwell will hire a full-time head coach in this summer and begin its first season on the field in the 2019-20 school year. Men's lacrosse championship season is in the spring semester with the program competing in exhibition games and limited practices in the fall of 2019. "The CACC enjoyed an outstanding debut season of men's lacrosse in 2018," said CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. "It is exciting for us to be adding another program to the sport in Caldwell University, which has a strong tradition of athletic success in the CACC."
