WINTER PARK, Fla. (Women’s Lacrosse) – The Sunshine State Conference will grow to 18 NCAA Division II sponsored sports with the addition of women’s lacrosse beginning the spring of 2015. The conference is currently sponsoring its first season of men’s lacrosse.
League bylaws require that half of the conference’s member institutions offer a particular sport before it may become a conference-sponsored sport.
Currently, Florida Southern, Rollins, Saint Leo and Tampa are competing independently in NCAA Division II. Tampa is in its first year of competition. Florida Tech is currently in a building year and will compete for the first time in the spring of 2015.

Brad Bates faces a series of decisions with regards to Men's Basketball in the coming days and weeks. He knows. We know. And it really should be the top of mind, since outside of Football, basketball should be our biggest revenue generator. However, an empty Conte is causing deficits, not surpluses. Once dealt with then his next big issue will be BC Baseball.
Baseball's problems are two fold. First Bates needs to determine if we are any good. The Florida swing wasn't encouraging, but there is still a lot of baseball to play. If Gambino doesn't show improvement and competitiveness, then he needs to go. Being a BC grad is always a plus, but you cannot overlook losing forever. Gambino's ties to Gene and the fact he was selected over more experienced candidates, doesn't bode well for him getting the benefit of the doubt from Bates.

Army Adds Women's Lacrosse

WEST POINT, N.Y.- The U.S. Military Academy at West Point announced it will add women's lacrosse to its NCAA athletics lineup beginning with the 2015-16 season on Monday morning.
Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan, along with the West Point leadership team, approved the addition to its Division I athletics program, which currently sponsors 25 intercollegiate sports.
Beginning in 2015-16, women's lacrosse will become the 10th member of the Patriot League, which currently supports American, Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy's women's lacrosse programs. This announcement will elevate West Point from the competitive club level, from which it has competed since 1979, to varsity status.

Southern Vermont College (DIII) Adds Women's Lacrosse

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College is excited to announce the addition of an NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse program and a junior varsity men’s basketball team, both for the 2014-15 school year.
Women’s lacrosse will be the 11th varsity program offered by SVC. The choice of women’s lacrosse hopes to feed off the growing popularity of the sport, notably on the girls’ side at the high school level throughout Vermont; 32 high schools in the state currently offer girls’ lacrosse, as well as those in the nearby New York and Massachusetts areas.
“Women’s lacrosse will create athletic opportunities for female students, consistent with our nation’s effort to give real meaning to Title IX,” said SVC President Karen Gross.
