Florida State University will add women's lacrosse as a varsity scholarship program, Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford announced on Tuesday, October 3. FSU women's lacrosse is projected to begin competition in the 2025-26 academic year.
"We are thrilled that Florida State will begin sponsoring women's lacrosse and we look forward to welcoming the program in 2025-26," said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. "There is no shortage of ACC women's lacrosse successes, and this is another example of our league's continued commitment to maximizing the educational and athletic opportunities for our student-athletes."

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University President and CEO Dr. George Hanbury, and Director of Athletics/Associate Vice President for Advancement Michael Mominey announced the addition of men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse as its 18th and 19th intercollegiate athletic program offerings. Both sports will begin competition in the 2024-25 academic year.
"The addition of men's and women's lacrosse teams will expand NSU's NCAA intercollegiate sports teams to 19. These athletic programs offer students the opportunity to pursue their passion in sports while achieving premiere education at NSU," said President and CEO Dr. Hanbury. "We look forward to supporting our student-athletes as they continue to excel both on the field, and in the classroom."
"We are really excited to welcome both men's and women's lacrosse to our portfolio of our robust athletic program." said Mominey. TAMPA – University of South Florida Athletics will add women's lacrosse to its list of highly-successful women's sports programs Vice President of Athletics Michael Kelly announced today, bringing the total number of Bulls' women's athletics teams to 11 and USF's total varsity sports program count to 20. The addition of women's lacrosse will mark the first new women's program added at USF since women's soccer in 1995. Women's lacrosse is the first addition in a planned expansion of USF's female varsity athletics sports offerings. Women's varsity athletics began at USF in 1972 with the start of the women's basketball program.
USF women's athletics programs have won 59 conference championship trophies. USF's conference titles in women's athletics have come from eight different sports, including tennis (13), volleyball (12), softball (8), soccer (7), golf (6), track and field (6), cross country (5) and basketball (2).
"The addition of women's lacrosse as a new sport at the University of South Florida is an example of how we are committed to excellence and inclusiveness in all aspects of the university – including our athletic programs," University of South Florida Interim President Rhea Law said. "This will provide more opportunities for women student-athletes to be part of the university community and thrive."

Over the next few years, the University will also add new club sports
including men's and women's rugby and women's bowling. Bridgeport also anticipates fielding a Sprint Football team as early as the Fall '23 semester.
UB is starting the process of hiring coaches for these new teams so that they may begin recruiting student-athletes. In accordance with NCAA rules, athletic scholarships will be available for men's and women's track and field athletes as well as men's lacrosse athletes beginning with the Fall '22 semester.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 5, 2021) – St. Thomas University (STU) Director of Athletics, Bill Rychel, announces the addition of Women's Lacrosse to the athletic roster. The Bobcats Women's Lacrosse inaugural team will be set to compete in the 2022-23 school year.
"I am excited to provide another opportunity for women to compete at St Thomas," said Rychel. "Lacrosse has continued to grow throughout the country and will be a great addition to our athletic department. I look forward to working with Coach [Candace] Walker to identify our first head coach and launch the program in 2022."

ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College administration and athletics department announced the addition of four NCAA athletics programs: men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's outdoor track and field, and women's outdoor track and field in the Flagler Room of the Ponce de Leon Hall Monday afternoon. These additions will bring the total number of Flagler College's sport offerings up to 20 and will begin officially in the Spring of 2022.

URBANA, Ohio – The Urbana University Department of Athletics announced it will add two sports with the revival of women's lacrosse and the addition of women's water polo. Both sports will begin competition in 2020-21.
Urbana Blue Knights Athletics will expand to 23 combined NCAA Division II varsity and club sports, which also includes the additions of acrobatics & tumbling, men's wrestling and men's volleyball in the past two years. UU will now feature 12 total women's varsity and club programs.
The Blue Knights will compete among six women's lacrosse teams in the Mountain East Conference, where it finished sixth in 2015 and fifth in 2016. UU discontinued women's lacrosse in 2016 after going 10-73 in six seasons of NCAA DII competition.
"I am excited to bring women's lacrosse back to Urbana University," Executive Vice President/CEO Dr. Christopher Washington said. "My enthusiasm is fueled by UU alumni who played lacrosse and went on to become intercollegiate coaches at other universities. I expect that women's lacrosse will attract scholar-athletes, promote healthy lifestyles, foster growth in leadership and teamwork skills, and encourage the pursuit of excellence that challenges them to reach their full potential."

Youngstown State will add a men's swimming and diving program as well as a women's lacrosse team in the near future, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ron Strollo announced on Monday.
Men's swimming and diving will become the 20th Division I sport currently offered by the YSU Athletic Department when it begins competition this fall. YSU previously competed in men's swimming and diving from 1964 through 1984 and 1949-51. Women's lacrosse is scheduled to debut in the spring of 2021.
"We're excited about this new opportunity to recruit high school students from Ohio, the region and internationally to pursue their academic and athletic goals at Youngstown State in both sports," Strollo said. "Our swimming facility is one of the best in the area and we look forward to showcasing it with both our men's and women's programs. The growth of women's lacrosse in Ohio and throughout the Midwest has seen an increased number of schools sponsor the sport and we are thrilled to add it at Youngstown State."

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ─ Wilson College continues to expand its intercollegiate athletics program with the addition of women's lacrosse─the fastest-growing NCAA women's sport of the past 15 years.
Women's lacrosse will become Wilson's 11th NCAA Division III program. In the last six years, the college has added six intercollegiate programs─most recently baseball, which will begin its inaugural season this spring with a home opener at Chambersburg's historic Henninger Field.
"Our sport sponsorship continues to expand and we are excited to add the growing sport of women's lacrosse to Phoenix Athletics," said Wilson Director of Athletics Lori Frey. "We look forward to yet another sport competing in the Colonial States Athletics Conference." Wilson's first lacrosse season will occur in the spring of 2021.

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University has announced the addition of Men's Lacrosse to their athletic department, marking the university's 32nd varsity program which continues their commitment to invest in the student experience.
Men's lacrosse will begin recruiting for the 2019-2020 school year and compete as an affiliate member with the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), along with the Midland Women's Lacrosse team.
