Flagler College (D2 FL) Adds Lacrosse

ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College administration and athletics department announced the addition of four NCAA athletics programs: men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's outdoor track and field, and women's outdoor track and field in the Flagler Room of the Ponce de Leon Hall Monday afternoon. These additions will bring the total number of Flagler College's sport offerings up to 20 and will begin officially in the Spring of 2022.

Flagler is in the early stages of implementation of its 2025 Strategic Plan, "A Life Well-Lived," and staff see this announcement as one important element in contributing to a plan goal of furthering a vibrant campus culture. The new athletics programs are the result of an exhaustive study conducted by the athletics administration and are in direct response to interest from campus leadership, student groups, and community members who want to see this type of NCAA competition level on campus.

As another effort to bridge more community relationships, this programming endeavor includes a partnership with St. Augustine High School. Flagler's track and field programs will practice and compete at the St. Augustine High facility while various sports teams from the high school will have the opportunity to play select games and matches at Flagler's athletics facilities. This partnership will be beneficial to many students at both schools and will provide further enhancement of the bond between Flagler College and the St. Augustine community.
