MLL Eyeing South Florida Franchise

On the surface, the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star Game at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton on Saturday, June 30 will serve as a showcase of top players from franchises throughout other parts of the country.

But on closer and deeper scrutiny, the attraction at 7:30 p.m. at the Owls' new football stadium could be a prelude to another pro sports team in South Florida.

While it is not being officially called a "test market" event, the MLL will be monitoring the game to determine whether Boca Raton will receive an expansion franchise to start play in 2014.

According to insidelacrosse.com, the southeast United States is being strongly looked at by MLL, and cities topping the list of franchise possibilities include Boca Raton, Atlanta and Dallas.
